How to Fill Vape Cartridges with Thick Oil
Most people purchase pre-filled oil cartridges when they first start vaping. They are ultra-convenient and make for super-efficient controlled dosing options. As time passes and you become more experienced, you’ll likely start to favor certain options over others. Rather than continuing to pay for the convenience of pre-filled cartridges, you may choose to purchase a higher quality oil or other useful accessories from CannaBliss Vape Co.
Why Fill Vape Cartridges?
Filling your own vape cartridges is a personal choice that can give you peace of mind while making the entire vaping experience more affordable. Fake cartridges have flooded the market and it can be difficult to determine exactly what’s in the pre-filled cartridges available for purchase. Filling your own allows you to control your vaping experience while saving a considerable amount of money in the process. Depending on the brand and size, filling your own cartridges could potentially save you $35 or more per 1mL cartridge.
Tools Needed to Fill Your Own Cartridges
It isn’t difficult to fill your own cartridges, but it can be messy without the right tools. It helps to work over a silicone mat, especially in the beginning. The mat makes it easier to save any spilled oil because no matter how careful you are, it’ll probably happen at least once. You’ll also need your thick CO2 oil and an empty cartridge. The most common cartridge is a 510 thread, but you’ll still want to check compatibility with the battery before getting started. You’ll also need a 14-16 gauge blunt tip needle, a hairdryer, and some rubbing alcohol.
Filling Your Cartridges
Use the hairdryer to warm your oil so it’s easier to work with. It’s important not to let the temperature of your oil exceed 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Excessively hot oil can damage the seals which prevent your cartridge from leaking. Once the oil cools to about 90 degrees, use your blunt tip needle to draw the oil up into the syringe. Remove the mouthpiece by turning it counterclockwise until it detaches.
Insert the tip of the needle into the tank and gently begin pushing the oil in while rotating the cartridge in a circular motion. Thick oil moves slowly so you may need to use the hairdryer to help the oil slide down the sides. Again, take care not to overheat it. Do not exceed the max fill line, if applicable. Use the rubbing alcohol to clean up any sticky oily residue that shows up where it doesn’t belong before replacing the mouthpiece.
Most cartridges can be safely refilled 4-5 times before performance quality begins to suffer. It’s best to replace them after that. When you’re ready for more high-quality cartridges or other vape accessories, contact Cannabliss Vape Co. and take control of your vaping experience.
